View from the Administration - April 17, 2012 The nation's current U.S. Secretary of Transportation and five former secretaries shared the stage at the Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. this past January. This View from the Administration video captures highlights from their panel discussion. The secretaries spoke candidly about their greatest challenges in office. Alan Boyd, the nation's first transportation secretary, described the difficulties he faced while creating the U.S. Department of Transportation. Secretary Ray LaHood said one his biggest challenges has been gaining Congressional approval for a long-term reauthorization bill. Former Secretaries Rodney Slater, Andrew Card, Samuel Skinner, and James Burnley are also featured in this video.
