US 21 (North Main Street) Bridge Rehabilitation Project over I-20 in Richland County Update
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) announces that bridge deck rehabilitation work at the US 21 (North Main Street) bridge over Interstate 20 in Richland County is expected to continue until Monday, November 18 at 7AM.
The North Main Street bridge over I-20 will maintain northbound and southbound travel. However, motorists are advised to use caution, expect congestion and plan ahead as lanes have been narrowed and shifted from 4 lanes to 2 lanes during
the rehabilitation work.
In addition, the right turn from the I-20 exit ramp toward the bridge will be temporarily detoured until the travel lanes are reconfigured to their original alignment. Temporary detours have been set for US 21
north and US 21 south from the I-20 exit ramps. I-20 eastbound traffic exiting I-20 at exit 71 to US 21 north will be detoured to exit 72, SC 555 (Farrow Road). I-20 westbound traffic exiting I-20 at exit 71 to US 21 south will be detoured to exit 70, US
321 (Fairfield Road). Detour signs have been placed along the interstate shoulders and throughout the designated detours.
All work for the southbound lanes of the bridge deck is expected to be complete by Monday, November 18th with the travel lanes shifted to their original configuration, weather permitting. Please use caution while traveling through the
work zone. Let ‘em Work. Let ‘em Live.”
