Route 51 Stoops Ferry Road Bridge Traffic Shift begins Next Week in Moon Township

?

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing a traffic shift on the Route 51 (Stoops Ferry Road) bridge in Moon Township, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, July 15 weather permitting.

Crews will shift traffic to one side of the bridge for pavement marking installation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily through Saturday, July 20 in preparation for long-term (approximately one month) traffic shift while the contractor reconstructs the adjacent roadway.

The work is part of the $3.54 million bridge replacement project which also includes bridge widening with a new left turn lane, a new traffic signal, curb and sidewalk improvements, concrete reconstruction, and roadway resurfacing. The bridge replacement will use accelerated bridge replacement techniques which will require a 12-day closure with a traffic detour, which is anticipated to occur in late summer/early fall of 2019. The roadway and intersection work will utilize long-term phased construction maintaining two lanes of traffic, off-peak lane restrictions and three weekends of single-lane restrictions.

The Joseph B. Fay Company is the prime contractor. The overall project is anticipated to be completed in late October 2019.

Please use caution when traveling through the area.
