Association President David Bernhardt appointed Aaron Gillispie of the West Virginia Department of Transportation to chair the National Transportation Product Evaluation Program Oversight Committee.
That program is a public-private partnership that provides single-source
testing of common products used by state DOTs and manufactured to AASHTO standards. It includes auditing and on-site inspection of factories manufacturing those products.
Gillispie is chief engineer at the West Virginia DOT's Division of Highways, and a former director of its Materials Control, Soils and Testing Division.
His two-year appointment, which is subject to confirmation by the AASHTO Executive Committee, runs through the end of the association's 2019 annual meeting.
Online voting is now underway to decide the People's Choice Award winner in the annual Faces of Transportation photography and video contest sponsored by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
