The association is taking applications through April 7 for the position of program specialist for policy, to be located in AASHTO's Washington, D.C., offices.
The person filling that position will provide support for a broad range of policy development, implementation and administration activities in support of state departments of transportation.

Among other things, the policy program specialist works with key AASHTO partners such as the U.S. Department of Transportation, Amtrak, other federal agencies, Congress and various industry associations. The job includes gathering and communicating information to members of AASHTO committees and to various groups within the association.
That may include organizing, developing and staffing committee conference calls and meetings, coordinating state DOT members to discuss proposed federal actions, helping plan and staff national conferences, plus training workshops, webcasts, webinars and meetings with state DOTs and resource agencies.
