News Update: AASHTO and AAPA Hold Infrastructure Week Briefing on Freight

This Transportation TV News Update provides coverage of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), panel briefing on freight held May 17, in recognition of Infrastructure Week 2017.  The event held in conjunction with Congressional PORTS Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) and Rep. Alan Lowenthal (D-CA) was titled “By Road, Rail and Sea: Building a 21st Century Multi-modal Freight Network.” The panel briefing was moderated by Molly Campbell the port commerce director, at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The panelists included Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Dr. Shawn Wilson; Port of Port Arthur TX., Deputy Port Director Larry Kelley; BNSF Railway Executive Vice President Roger Nober; and American Trucking Associations First Vice-Chairman David Manning. The panelists covered an array of freight related issues including implementation of the freight-related provisions under the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, enhancing rail access, dredging projects and long-term funding.
