TRAFFIC ALERT - Inspection of Bridges Will Require Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures -- New Castle County


Townsend/Odessa/Newark (New Castle County) -- The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that their contractor Pennoni will be inspecting bridges during the weeks of April 23 and April 30.

Motorists should be aware that bridge personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes and anticipate lane shifts.

Nighttime lane closures will occur from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Bridge on SR 1 over U.S. Route 13 AND Bridge on SR 1 over Appoquinimink River between Exits 136 and 119, Townsend/Odessa

Sunday, April 23: Right lane closed on SR 1 southbound between Exits 136 and 119 from 9 a.m. until 1 a.m.

Left lane closed on SR 1 northbound between Exits 136 and 119 from 1 a.m. until 5 a.m.

Monday, April 24: Right lane closed on SR 1 northbound between Exits 119 and 136.

Tuesday, April 25: Right lane closed on SR 1 southbound between Exits 136 and 119.

Wednesday, April 26: Left lane closed on SR 1 southbound between Exits 136 and 119.

Thursday, April 27: Left lane closed on SR 1 northbound between Exits 119 and 136.

Daytime lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Bridge on SR 273 over Amtrak Railroad between Ruthar Drive and Redmill Road, Newark

Monday, April 24: Right lane closed on SR 273 eastbound from 9 a.m. until noon. After that inspection is complete on SR 273 eastbound; the inspectors will proceed to close the right lane on SR 273 westbound from noon until 3 p.m.

Daytime lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Bridge on SR 2/Capitol Trail over White Clay Creek between East Cleveland Avenue and Possum Park Road, Newark

Tuesday, April 25 through Friday, April 28; AND

Monday, May 1 through Thursday, May 4

Single left or right lane closures will occur on SR 2 eastbound/ westbound between East Cleveland Avenue and Possum Park Road. At all times, one lane will remain open in each direction. A flagger will guide pedestrians around the work zone.
